Job Description:

Perform typical Engineering duties in the specialty of Civil Engineering, overseeing the design, planning and construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities under construction by our company. Specific duties include:

• Responsible for development and evaluation of project erection plans for feasibility, productivity, profitability and conformance with industry and company standards. Will manage and direct the construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project site.

 

• Will perform additional Civil Engineering duties including estimating and management of construction projects involving various structural steel, reinforcing steel, miscellaneous metals, and bridge projects. This involves providing technical advice regarding design, construction, or structural repairs.

 

• This position provides support for sales, estimating, management, operations and profitability of the company by providing Engineering expertise sufficient to strategically bid on and execute construction projects.

 

• The Project Engineer must provide engineering support to secure future work, building sales contacts and strategic relationships.

 

• The Project Engineer contributes to development, documentation, implementation and enforcement of the company erection and quality control procedures as well as the company’s safety policies. The Engineer will perform center of gravity calculations, critical lift planning, crane selection, configuration and sizing, lift and rigging planning to sure compliance with our company’s standards for high-quality, sturdy structures.

 

Miscellaneous duties include: attending bid meetings and visiting job sites of projects being bid, administration of subcontracts, estimating, collection of accounts receivable, and assisting in project safety programs in cooperation with our customer, the owner, our employees and others on site. The Project Engineer reports directly to the Division Manager.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. In addition, must be a Journeyman Union Ironworker. Because this position involves work on-site at construction sites nationwide, travel to unanticipated worksites will be required. Periodic relocation may be required.

Must have two years of experience in a related position, which includes the following experience:

• Developing and implementing erection plans for steel structures, including crane lift plans, rigging design and safe access plans.
• Scheduling and managing the design, fabrication and delivery of steel components.
• Managing and directing unionized ironworker installation crews on site.
